The first natives who settled on the morainal hill where nowadays Anzano lies were the Orobis. The first archaeological finds, however, date back to the Gauls, who merged with the Orobis. The most important find of the Roman Period is an epigraph of the 2nd and 3rd century A.D.. The first Christian chapel was probably built to serve a military purpose. In fact the inscription to Gabriel the archangel has been preserved in the church. The fortification became then a castle whose remains lie in front of the church. The Carcano were the last family who owned Anzano and they built an imposing villa surrounded by a huge garden (hence the name of the town), which was occupied by the German during the 2nd World War.
