It followed the historical events of Menaggio and belonged to its parish. The Gallio, dukes of Alvito, were enfeoffed with it in 1647. From 1927 to 1950, Bene Lario, Grandola and Grona were part of the Commune of Grandola ed Uniti. Feudal information: Bene Lario was part of Porlezza and followed its vicissitudes until Medici Giovanni Giacomo gave it back to Trivulzio Paolo Camillo on the 13rd February 1532. It was then separated from Porlezza and given to Gallio Francesco on the 30th December 1648.
